About Ingeborg Lauterstein

IngabiojpgIngeborg Lauterstein was born in Vienna, Austria, and lived there during the tumultuous period when blond-haired children were stolen from their families to supplement “the master race.” She studied Art and has a D.A. from the Glasgow School of Art. In Austria, she studied at Salzburg with Oskar Kokoschka. She came to this country to attend Black Mountain College where she studied with Joseph Albers. While there, Charles Olson told her that she was a writer. Later she studied writing with Caroline Gordon and Margaret Young at the New School in New York City. She married Lincoln Lauterstein, an attorney for the Metropolitan Opera, and has one son. She now resides in New England.
